David Nelmes
After a 45 year painting hiatus, David (along with encouragement from family and Native American friends in Arizona) has finally returned to the easel to complete his life long dream of painting his many interpretations (after 30 years of travel, study, and research) of the lifeways and arts of the first Americans of the Southwest and Great Plains and to achieve his goals with respect and sensitivity to same.
Born in the picturesque “Cotswold” region of England, David migrated to the United States at the age of seven, with his parents and two sisters, settling in Prescott, Arizona.
David spent many years traveling the entire state and was fascinated with and totally consumed by the many Native American cultures, their ancient history and arts. What started as a dream almost 50 years ago has finally come to fruition.
